Fairytale

Once upon a time,
start all of the stories,
of princesses and their white knights.
If only it was still "once upon a time".
Now it is only now, and in the future.
I wish I was a princess,
living in a grand manor house,
where my prince would visit me daily.
We would take long walks on the grounds,
holding hands and stealing kisses in the shadows.
He would ride up on his white horse,
and I would sit behind him as we rode off into the sunset,
so that we could live happily ever after.
I have my prince now.
He has no white horse, and he isn't a knight.
But he is the prince of my heart, and always will be.
To me, he will always wear a crown.
We can still hold hands and take long walks together.
We can still be in love together,
even without the large houses and the long evening gowns.
One day I will forever be his.
I will be his queen,
and he my king,
and it will be in today's world,
our own once upon a time.
